Getting around in Warsaw
The Institute of Philosophy where the conference will take place is in the very city center (ul. Krakowskie Przedmieście 3), so quite likely you will find most places in a walking distance.
There is a good public transport system in Warsaw. You can buy a 72-hours ticket for 36 zł which is valid for buses, trams, metro trains and local trains within Warsaw. Ticket fares can be checked here.
We highly recommend using jakdojade application which is very reliable and shows the optimal route by public transport in Polish cities (it is also possible to use it via website). For current timetables and bus routes information, go to the Public Transport Authority of Warsaw.
The bus stop closest to Krakowskie Przedmieście 3 is Uniwersytet. Also very close to the conference venue is the metro station Nowy Świat – Uniwersytet.
Coming to Warsaw
There are two airports in Warsaw: Okęcie (WAW) and Modlin (WMI). Most of the air traffic goes through Okęcie.
To get to the city center from Okęcie airport, you may take a train. You can access the train station (Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina) directly from the airport. It takes slightly over 20 minutes to Warszawa Centralna (Central Railway Station) or to Warszawa Śródmieście which are both in the strict city center.
You may also take a bus 175 which connects the airport directly with the conference venue (bus stop Uniwersytet, less than 40 minutes) through the city center (bus stop Centrum, less than 30 minutes).
There is also a night bus N32 which departs every half an hour. You can go e.g. to Dworzec Centralny, Metro Świętokrzyska or Centrum stop all of which are in the strict center.
To get to the city center from Modlin airport, you need to take a shuttle bus from the airport to Modlin train station, then a train either to Warszawa Centralna station or to Warszawa Gdańska Station and then, by metro, to Centrum station. The whole travel should take less han 1,5 hour. There is no connection at night (roughly between midnight and 5 am). Note that your public transport ticket is not valid for either the train outside Warsaw or the shuttle bus.
There is also a direct connection via ModlinBus. Travel from the airport to the city center takes roughly 40 minutes. For this bus, you will need a ticket separate from the one for the public transport.
Hotel Gromada provides a medium-priced accommodation, also in a walking distance from the conference venue (around 300 zł). Very close to the Institute of Philosophy, you can find a number of private apartments for short-term rent which may be booked via online platforms like booking.com or Trivago.
